Many women who choose not to have breast reconstruction after mastectomy feel their choice isn't respected by plastic surgeons. Society expects women to have breasts, influenced by centuries of male artists.
To challenge this, we organized a live drawing class featuring a breast cancer survivor who chose not to reconstruct. By asking artists to capture her beauty, we challenged old beauty standards, helping medical professionals and women with breast cancer see going flat as a valid and beautiful choice.
